Stake Takes Crown as Most Visited Gambling Site, While Betway Pressures Rivals Regionally
22 September 2026
Stake.com tops the world as the most visited gambling website in August 2026, with 107.8 million monthly visits, according to Exploding Topics. Its closest rivals, Stake.us and CrownCoinsCasino, trail with 80.6 million and 78.4 million visits, respectively. While Stake leads globally, Betway's betway.co.za sits at number 7, pulling in 36.7 million monthly visits and establishing itself as a major player, especially in Africa.
Market analysts have described 2026 as a year of widening reach for the world's top iGaming brands, but also one where regional dominions still pack real clout. The six brands reaching more than 100 countries worldwide, per Blask's August tracking, are Stake, 1xBet, Megapari, Mostbet, Melbet, and 1win. That truly global footprint allows these brands to cup their hands around the globe's gambling giants, even as they give ground in some markets.
Despite Stake's leadership by overall traffic, its reach and regional dominance are not tied together neatly. In the August 2026 traffic snapshot, for instance, Stake holds the top slot globally, but not in Africa, where Betway leverages the traffic and market share that give it stronger control of local gambling on the continent. According to Blask, Betway is the standout brand in South Africa, where together with Hollywoodbets, it holds roughly two-thirds of the market by visits, and in Nigeria, where Betway is estimated to command 15–20% of the sports betting market.
Blask’s Brand Awareness Proportion (BAP), a metric indicating a brand's share of total iGaming search demand within a country, shows trailblazer brands winning up to 75% of demand in markets like those dotting Africa. However, in many countries, including Japan, where Stake holds the top BAP, leading brands take a smaller proportion of the total. Across 139 countries, the median leading brand controlled 40.6% of national demand from January through August 2026. "The clear takeaway is that reach isn’t the same as dominance. All these brands have global scaling but different ways of meeting the overall market's specific needs," says Blask co-founder and CEO Geoff Rogers.

Blask researchers warn that while iGaming’s larger brands may be reaping benefits from the current cycle, the market environment has shifted as well. The tracker's August report notes that its 142-country Index dropped in 89 countries, with those markets accounting for two-thirds of July's total search volume. Simultaneously, global juggernauts like Stake and Betway pushed ahead, despite the overall dip.
"Broad, international appeal is certainly a key to growth now, but it has to be backed by very region-specific execution," says Rogers. "If you can surf the global swell, awesome — that's what Stake and Betway are doing this year. But if you can get hammered into a regional foothold and own that too, all the better. In the end, that regional depth is the surer currency."
Strategic emphasis on global traffic alongside regional control is why these brands have become top trumps in iGaming: they can flex to maximize growth.
